The initiative, announced on Hindi Diwas, is aimed at making the Supreme Court’s important decisions and their implications more accessible to ordinary citizens and litigants, particularly those who may find lengthy legal documents difficult to read or understand. A press statement said that the Hindi service would be launched shortly after the necessary arrangements are put in place. Each summary will also carry a link to the corresponding official judgment or order, allowing users to access the original court document. The Supreme Court said the initiative would also benefit persons with disabilities. The service will initially be available in Hindi, with the court planning to extend it in phases to other Indian languages. The move is intended to make concise information about important Supreme Court decisions available to citizens across linguistic regions in languages familiar to them.

Nightclub owners Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra, along with their business partner Ajay Gupta, appeared before the Mapusa Additional District and Sessions Court in compliance with the apex court’s direction. The case relates to the fatal fire at the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Arpora, North Goa, on December 6, 2025, in which 25 people were killed and several others were injured. On August 31, the Supreme Court dismissed the trio’s petitions challenging the Bombay High Court order cancelling their bail, directed them to surrender within two weeks, and asked the trial court to expedite the proceedings. Advocate Saumya Drago, appearing for the accused, confirmed that the court accepted their surrender and issued the necessary remand orders. She told reporters that an application had also been moved seeking certain medical accommodations for her clients on the basis of their medical history, doctors’ prescriptions and medical records.

Twelve days after the Bombay high court ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe the death of celebrity manager Disha Salian, the central agency on Monday said it has registered the First Information Report (FIR) in the case to commence the probe. A CBI official, while confirming the development to HT today, said, "The FIR in the Disha Salian case has been registered as per the Bombay high court's orders." The official declined to provide any further details about the FIR, including the accused and the sections invoked. The CBI registered the FIR after recording the statement of Disha's father, Satish Salian, on Friday at its Mumbai office located at the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), as the first step in its investigation. After recording his statement at the CBI office in BKC, Salian said on Friday, “I have recorded my statement with the CBI, and you can learn about it tomorrow. I have spoken about those who were involved.” On Monday, Salian told HT, "Yes, I learnt that the FIR has been registered." His lawyer, advocate Nilesh Ojha, claimed on Friday that in Salian’s statement, he gave additional information apart from what was submitted to the high court, and his statement will become part of the CBI’s FIR. “The key points in the statement were that Disha Salian was gang-raped and then murdered, and there was a cover-up to hide the crimes, in which some then police officers were also involved,” Ojha had said, alleging that several high-profile individuals and a former policeman had played a role in the case.

NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday registered an FIR in connection with the death of Disha Salian, the former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, following an order of the Bombay high court.The FIR names several individuals whose roles have been listed for investigation, including Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray, Rohan Roy, actors Dino Morea and Sooraj Pancholi, Aaditya Thackeray's bodyguards, Rhea Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty, former police officer Sachin Vaze, former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh, DCP Vishal Thakur and former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray.The document also names former state home minister Anil Deshmukh, several police officers, forensic officials, doctors and other individuals.“The then chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, father of Aaditya Thackeray, and others also played a significant role in the conspiracy and subsequent cover-up. The concerned public servants and police officers are also liable to be investigated for destruction or suppression of case papers, files and other public records, fabrication of official records, and misuse of public funds, manpower and police machinery for unlawful purposes and for shielding the offenders,” the FIR stated.
